Little Shop of Horrors takes a bite out of MOORHEAD HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE
A deviously delicious Broadway and Hollywood sci-fi smash musical, Little Shop of Horrors has devoured the hearts of theatregoers for more than 30 years. Howard Ashman and Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and Aladdin) are the creative geniuses behind what has become one of the most popular shows in the world.
The meek floral assistant Seymour Krelborn stumbles across a new breed of plant he names “Audrey II” – after his coworker crush. This foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore promises unending fame and fortune to the down-and-out Krelborn as long as he keeps feeding it BLOOD. Over time, though, Seymour discovers Audrey II’s out of this world origins and intent toward global domination!
“The company has had a blast re-imagining this delicious, comedic romp,” says Rebecca Meyer-Larson, director of Moorhead High Musical Theatre. “Thanks to the imaginings of USC film student and MHS theater alumni Devon Manney, our production includes cinematic storytelling and 3D animations. The interactive nature of our production allows audiences to be fully immersed in the horrific fun of this musical.”
Little Shop of Horrors will be performed at Moorhead High School’s auditorium November 11,12, 17, 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. matinee on November 20. Tickets can be reserved online at www.MoorheadSchools.org/tix or by calling the MHS Activities Office at 218-284- 2255 beginning October 28.
